I, am Charlene Vernon-Edwards is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of New York and the founder of Opal Healing Corner - Hem of Love, LLC. I bring a decade of compassionate, client-centered care to my work, combining deep clinical knowledge with a passion for advocacy and empowerment.
I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Hunter College in May 2012, with a specialization in Individuals and Families. Later, I pursued a Master’s in Human Service Leadership from St. Joseph’s College, graduating in June 2024, and officially obtained her LMSW in July 2025.
My professional experience spans work with adults, children, and families within nonprofit organizational systems, particularly in child welfare and educational services. I have direct psychotherapy experience with adolescents and adults managing a range of mental health concerns, including Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and Adjustment Disorders, among others.
Rooted in a Strength-Based and Client-Centered approach, I am dedicated to supporting individuals who face barriers in accessing vital resources and services. My approach is both compassionate and strategic, aiming to empower clients to build on their strengths and reclaim agency in their lives.

Additionally, I am certified in New York State Mandated Identification and Reporting of Child Abuse and Maltreatment/Neglect. In addition, I have received training in Seminar In Field Instruction (SIFI) which I provide support and training to social work students studying in the profession.
At the core of my work is a genuine commitment to healing, justice, and the holistic well-being of those she serves.
To enhance the mindset of black women who face challenges with the ability to stabilize their mental health. Opal Healing Corner- Hem of Love will provide therapeutic support in re-building strong, knowledgeable, and inspiring women to be in control of their mental health.
To rebuild black women mental health as well they see more of who they are and what they can do. Take control of themselves in more healthy way. In addition, provide support to women who may face other challenges in life.

Founded in 2024, Opal Healing Corner – Hem of Love was birthed from a deep desire to bring awareness, education, and acceptance to the realities of mental health within the Black community—especially among Black women.
Our mission is to empower and uplift women who are struggling with mental health challenges, reminding them that they are not alone. We aim to create a safe, loving, and respectful space where women of all ages can rebuild their self-esteem and find strength in community and faith.
This platform will serve as a hub for updated resources and information tailored to the unique needs of Black women and their loved ones. Whether seeking support, guidance, or simply a reminder that healing is possible, Hem of Love is here to walk beside you on your journey.
